Mum has been at Grace House for over 2 years. Initially she had gone for a period of respite but she had settled in so well and the care she had meant we were very keen for her to stay. She feels so at home she often thinks the carers are part of her extended family, and it means that we can go back to being her children. They know her really well now and know that she would rather have a sausage roll with her cup of tea than a biscuit! It also means we know she is safe and supported 24/7 and has people to reassure her if she is up and awake during the night.Review - September 2026
Our mother and our close friend were residents at Grace House over a number of years. Both felt part of a home in the true sense. They received a high standard of care in comfortable surroundings and especially rated the food. The staff do all they can to keep people engaged and entertained with really good in house provision and outside singers/entertainers. Most of all there is a clear personal relationship between the residents and staff. If you want an in-house cinema and hair salon you may want elsewhere but you might do so at the expense of choosing an authentic place for your loved one to live.Review - March 2026
Dad has been a resident at Grace House since October 2025, when he went in for a week or so to give Mum some respite. But such were his needs and such were her own issues that we decided he needed to stay longer. It quickly became apparent that Grace House needed to become his home. The level of care, warmth and affection the team there clearly show Dad has been remarkable. It wasn't easy seeing him there at first, but he has settled in well and the team have been amazing. He recently went into hospital and the staff were clearly concerned to see him go; equally, they were so welcoming when he returned. We are all warmly welcomed whenever we visit, being made to feel part of the community there, rather than inconvenient interlopers. Ashley and his team do a fantastic job under often difficult circumstances and, as a family, we are so grateful for all that they do and feel very lucky to have found them. Thank you everyone! My parents have been at Grace House for about eight months. They have a lovely room and we were so pleased to have them living together since they have been married for over 60 years. The staff at Grace House are amazing which was one of the main reasons we chose this home. Everyone is so friendly and thoughtful and the care is second to none. The home put on lots of activities for the residents including yoga, singalongs, bingo and visits from a petting zoo. There are also trips out to the local pub for lunch and to the Watercress Line for a ride on a steam train which my parents greatly enjoyed. I cannot thank the staff enough for how they look after everyone so professionally, cheerfully and enthusiastically. It was a difficult transition for my parents to move from the home they had lived in for nearly 50 years but that change has been managed so carefully and thoughtfully. As a family we are so grateful that they are living in an environment where they are so well cared for.Review - December 2024
My husband was placed here for respite care in August 2024 from the hospital. We had no chance to visit Grace House so were pleasantly surprised when we got there. It was a lovely atmosphere and very caring staff. He is happy there and interacts which he wasn't doing before.Review - November 2024
I cannot thank everyone at Grace House Care Home enough for the care and support they gave my father during his brief stay between hospital and returning home. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done to make the transition from hospital to Grace House smooth and stress-free. My family and I are extremely grateful to you all. What a lovely place Grace House is. My mother is a resident and it's such a relief to know she is settled and happy. The staff are so kind and helpful and she absolutely loves the food. So thank you all, much appreciated. The love and warmth I feel and see every time I visit is wonderful.
